Me
Minus the music, "O" was a year-long project-
6 months thinking and working to buy a computer, 6 months cutting,
pasting, editing, processing, exploring, constructing and reconstructing
ideas. All in all I ended up using only 649 clips out of 3000 (approx).
On top of that another month was required for making the DVDs. The
footage comes from a variety of sources, most notably the demo scene, a
conglomerate of computer programmers, graphic designers and musicians
worldwide making music-synced graphics demos for the love of it - a
somehow untapped field of talent, one which I am a big fan and admirer.
Originally the project was only going to be solely 3D graphics, but
realised quite early on that this would cause eyestrain and probably headaches, amongst other
things- thus the search for 'live' visuals. The live visuals come
from a variety of individuals, predominantly through archive.org, which houses a
public-domain americana film archive called 'the prelinger archives'. It
was the 'retro' appeal of this material, as well as it's accessibility which led to me using it rather extensively. All visuals, with the exception of the
prelinger archive footage which is public domain, are used by permission
from the artists in question.
I sincerely hope you enjoy this film-

Matt Bentley's Music.
Matthew Bentley was born on October the 17th, 1978, in the not-quite-sunny town of
Hamilton. Since then he's written music for NASA, picked up a Computer
Science degree and written a few small films.
He meditates, plays the violin, bass, guitar, piano and drums, sings, does Kung Fu and is interested in a
kind of buddhism called Zen.
Hopefully the buddhism and computer science comes through in the film.
